Guidance

An active shooter is an individual actively engaged in killing or attempting to kill people in a populated area.

Be aware there could be more than one active shooter, with multiples acting-in-concert.

It may not be an everyday event, but you can plan for it.

Think through an if/then scenario. If they do this, then I do that.

Be familiar with your landscape. Use it to your advantage.

Understand how a building or rooms lock manually.

If you have the ability and knowledge, know how to electronically lock down a building. It restricts movement of the shooter.

Be familiar with your tactical options and what is legally permissible in your jurisdiction.

See information in Response – Active shooter.
