Street scams are often encountered in tourist centric areas.

The motivation is typically money or access to your lifestyle.

Note. Not everyone who approaches you when travel is looking to engage in theft or street scams. Be alert, not alarmed. It’s context based.

If you are approached by unknown persons asking for money or people asking for a cigarette, consider walking on.

It may be a tactic to engage and/or distract you and opportunity to pickpocket.

Be polite when declining.

Be aware of other persons around you. Street scammers often work in pairs or groups.
