Guidance
Dress for the environment and economic conditions.
Context based, the aim is to blend in and not draw attention to yourself.
Dress for the intended destination. In economic and socially challenging locations, if you wear loud clothing and expensive items, you increase your risk of a negative event occurring. It’s context based, but be aware that people have different dress standards across the world.
Wear nondescript clothing. Avoid wearing t-shirts with large logos, bright colors.
Wear minimal jewelry and high value items.
Wear sturdy shoes with grip.
In Islamic countries, research the local clothing requirements. Dress conservatively as a baseline. Consider for:
Males
– Long pants
– Collared shirt
Females
– Clothing which covers top and bottom half of the body.
– Take a headscarf
Females should make themselves aware of local dress requirements. Breaches may result in civil and criminal penalties.
